My Palate Goes International

I love to eat. And from time to time, my palate will crave for something different, something over the edge, exotic. Now, I don't eat crickets, although at some point in my life, I think I once ate a snake.
One thing I love about Olongapo City is it will never run out of places to eat. There is a restaurant in every corner and Cafenderia Waterlily is a personal favorite.

The place is actually a house turned into a small restaurant and that being said, Cafenderia Waterlily has a homey feeling to it. The interior is very rustic. Even the utensils that they use is a little bit outdated compared to some of the restaurants that I have been to.

One of the things that I love about this place is how warm they accommodate their guests. The owner will welcome you with a smile, she actually had a little chitchat with my daughter. There is free WiFi so you can post your Instagram worthy photos in an instant. Since it's a house, there is no public toilet, however, you can use the toilet provided but you need to take off your slippers before entering the house, don't worry, the floor is clean!
It was a quiet night when we visited, which is good at least for us, so we don't need to wait long for our food to be served.
Now, let's talk about the food, I am no chef, but I can taste good food and Cafenderia Waterlily is good food. The restaurant covers a wide variety of cuisine from around the world. They have Filipino-"logs", they have American, Indian, Korean, Thai food and the list goes a long long way. Ordering can be a little bit overwhelming but the price isn't. Their food is really affordable and the servings were massive! You really get your money's worth.
So we picked Fish and Chips which is for 199 pesos, instead of cream dori, they used tuna which unfortunately didn't do justice to the dish. But we enjoyed the chips (fries).
We also ordered Laksa, which I enjoyed very much that my heart leaped when it was served. The dish is priced at 149 pesos, and it could serve 2 people. It was so good that you can actually compare it to authentic Peranakan cooking. It served me well that the husband is not fond of spicy food, so I had it all to myself! I wasn't able to finish the entire bowl, so I took the rest home. Nothing to be ashamed about.
The husband ordered Pad Thai which is for 189 pesos, it came along with chili flakes and crushed peanuts. Serving is good for 2 people. This one has my approval. There is like a party inside your mouth once you taste this baby!
And lastly, their famous Witwicky Burger priced at 119 each -- we ordered two burgers, 1 and a half for him and the other half was for me. This burger is a stand alone, no fries just burger, the beef patty is like OMG! The cheese sauce is another OMG! and bacon, you can never go wrong with bacon!
They also have house-blended iced tea, but we ordered sodas. But I am sure their teas were twice as good.
Overall, I liked the experience. And we will definitely go back and try their Indian food next time!
